Motley Crue appeared tonight on the "Larry
King Live" (8.9 MB) show to announce they have indeed reunited,
and were about to play a short set at the Hollywood Palladium. They also
appeared briefly on VH1 to make the same announcement, and to world
premire their new video for their new single "If
I die tomorrow"(14.2 MB). Extra special thanks to my good
bud, MOON, for the video footage.

Lots of news to report:
A special Motley Crue announcement will air on VH1 on
Monday, December 6th at midnight ET / 9:00pm PT. It is rumored
that this announcement will take place at the Whisky-a-go-go in
Hollywood, CA.
Motley Crue is also tentatively scheduled to make a
"surprise" appearance at the Billboard Music Awards show, to
air on Wednesday, December 8th. Check local listings for time and
channel.
According to ExploreTalent.com,
MÖTLEY CRÜE recently issued a casting call for a female lead to star
in the group's new video for a song called "If I Die
Tomorrow". The description and talent specifications of the role
the video producers were trying to fill are as follows: "Brunette,
female, caucasian, light hispanic or light mixed ethnicity (exotic), 18
to 24 yrs old, hot, great body, voluptuous. Must be able to act and must
have curves. She will be in every scene of this video. Great exposure,
VH1 is doing a behind-the-scenes show and launch for this..."
Auditions for the role were apparently held in Los Angeles on November
15-16, 2004. No further details were provided.
Several music message boards are abuzz with reports that the band have
been filming a video in Hollywood over the past few days. In addition,
it is rumored that MÖTLEY CRÜE will play one or more warm-up gigs at
the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood prior to the launch of their reunion
tour. Whisky's official web
site contains no mention of the rumored date(s), but it is currently
hosting a teaser ad for CRÜE's upcoming tour.
As previously reported, MÖTLEY CRÜE will hold a press conference on
Monday, December 6 on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA to announce a
reunion tour by the group's original lineup: Vince Neil (vocals), Nikki
Sixx (bass), Tommy Lee (drums) and Mick Mars (guitar). The press
conference will be followed by the band's appearance at the 2004
Billboard Music Awards on Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las
Vegas. The event will be broadcast live on Fox.

An update on Mick's health
Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars is recovering after
undergoing hip-replacement surgery on Tuesday (October 5). Mars, 53, has
been suffering from a chronic degenerative illness, ankylosing
spondylitis, for some time and underwent the surgery to ease the pain of
the damaged joint, according to his spokesperson.
"The surgery went extremely well," Mars' surgeon Dr. Brad
Penenberg said following the operation. "I expect him to be walking
with the help of a physical therapist as early as Wednesday
morning."
Individuals afflicted with Mars' illness suffer from a fusing together
of some or all joints and bones of the spine. The affected area becomes
inflamed and some of the bone may erode, but only about six percent of
sufferers of the disease need to undergo hip-replacement surgery. The
illness cannot be cured but the pain can be minimized with
anti-inflammatory drugs, according to the National Ankylosing
Spondylitis Society.
A spokesperson for the group was optimistic about Mars' recovery from
surgery. "Mötley Crüe are a gang of musicians that climbed the
mountain of rock to success," Allen Kovac, CEO of Tenth Street
Entertainment, said in a statement. "A healthy Mick Mars gives hope
to all those who love one of rock's most passionate and aggressive
bands."
News about the reunion tour:
Singer-guitarist-songwriter Stacy Jones of the
Boston-based quartet AMERICAN HI-FI has collaborated with MÖTLEY CRÜE
on a song for CRÜE's upcoming CD, according to an update sent out to
AMERICAN HI-FI's mailing list. "Vince Neil [vocals] wasn't around,
so Stacy cut the vocals while Nikki Sixx [bass] and Tommy Lee [drums]
were playing," the message reads. "Dreams come true."
MÖTLEY CRÜE have already demoed at least four songs for inclusion on
their next release, including "Black Roses", "Another Bad
Day", "Entertain Us" and "Get Out". The
material, which was recorded at studios in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, is
described by Sixx as very MÖTLEY sounding, I'd say 'Dr. Feelgood' meets
'Shout At the Devil'. It's true rock 'n' roll. Nothing more, nothing
less."
Discussions are currently underway for a MÖTLEY CRÜE reunion tour
featuring all four original band members — Sixx, Lee, Neil and
guitarist Mick Mars. A full-blown trek is expected to kick off in the
first quarter of 2005. The band hasn't toured with all four original
members since 1999.
October 2nd, 2004
According to Billboard.com, discussions are under way
for a MOTLEY CRUE reunion tour featuring all four original band members
- bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, singer Vince Neil and guitarist
Mick Mars. "We're not there yet; we're at the 20 yard line,"
says the source. If it happens, the reunion will include several new
songs from the band to be released in "unconventional ways,"
along with a full-blown tour in the first quarter of 2005. The band
hasn't toured with all four original members since 1999.
A review of Tommy Lee's up-coming book , "TommyLand"
Hey all. As you know, Tommyland,
the autobiography of Tommy Lee, will be hitting the bookshelves soon
(maybe this month, maybe as late as Thanksgiving from what I've heard).
Recently I was sent an advance copy for review by Atria Books, a
division of Random House.
It's not a complicated tale, which I know will surprise most people who
have followed Tommy Lee. Basically for twenty-six bucks, a reader gets
his life story, covered in quick tabloid fashion, and told in a prettied
form of Tommyspeak (lots of stuff is sick, or kicks ass. It's all good.
Trust). We get his childhood. Motley. A good chunk of Pam. Jail. Post
Motley. The tabloids. The kid who drowned in his pool. A chapter on
tattoos. A back end with stuff like his fans and dealing with the public
and his favorite bands.
As the NY Post already reported, the big gimmick is that the first
chapter (four pages) consists of a conversation between Tommy Lee and
his penis. Through the course of the book his penis also interjects what
are supposed to be humorous comments. You can tell when it's his penis
because the font is different and a graphic of spooge drops faint behind
this new and edgy font.
For example: on meeting Heather Locklear TL writes:
"I had seen her on TV, of course, and then one day when I was
talking to my accountant about who I thought was hot, he told me that
his brother was Heather's dentist."
And then the penis breaks in and says:
"I'd like to give her an oral exam."
But don't worry fans. Just because his penis's gifts don't extend to
stand up comedy, the book is also loaded w/ other gimmicks:
* supposed post it comments from the British editor of the book and
Tommy Lee's supposed responses.
* a little cartoon doodle that progresses along the margin of the pages.
* footnote comments from the book's co-author Rolling Stone writer
Anthony Bozza, which are supposed to be funny but usually come off as
brutally uninteresting (and are so annoying that honestly it's not worth
my time to retype them).
Plus there's pictures of TL in various states of performance and
undress.
If you are a rock fan and read the Dirt, there will be very little new
information about Motley. I'd say the biggest revelation was his version
of the source of friction between him and and Vince Neil, which he
connected to an event that took place during the Feelgood tour. Because
I don't want to completely ruin this too much for anyone who wants to
buy the book, I'm not going to tell that story. If you however want to
just read the key pages, look at 94-6 when you are in the bookstore.
Admittedly interesting nuggest also include: a story about how to make
his drum kit disappear; getting drunk w/Metallica at the grammy's; the
way in which his original courting of Pam Anderson is stalkerlike; and
Pam Anderson's account of their courtship, which may or may not be a
purposeful underplaying of her interest, but which definitely involves
some reshaping of history:
"Pamela: We stayed together for four days and we didn't have sex
until we were married, even though Tommy thinks we did. I had the
penthouse suite, with a pool and everything. We'd party all day and go
to La Boom at night, just back and forth, back and forth. We had the
wildest time. I just thought we were madly in love -- I had no idea that
there were chemicals keeping me awake. I was taking baths all day long
because my skin had never tingled so much. I was rubbing myself, I was
rubbing him. We should have been two piles of dust we were rubbing each
other so much... I just thought that I was really in love. I definitely
thought we had to get married. It was so intense that there was no way
we could have sex right away. It took us a few days to even get there.
We were too busy sucking every single hair and freckle on each other's
bodies. I'm glad we waited until marriage -- until it was proper in the
eyes of the Lord."
Intentionally or not, that's a funny paragraph, so I had to retype it
for all.
Not a lot of new stuff on the sex tape. Not even an addressing of the
rumor that maybe it was Tommy Lee or Pam who sold the thing. No good
list of all the famous chicks he's been with. Nothing about what it's
like to be basically infamous, recognized by most only for his schlong
and his police record. Also no serious look at how he felt about
Motley's decline, or the shift in musical tastes from Metal to grunge,
or how it must have felt when Methods of Mayhem and then his solo
projects tanked. Maybe they figured the audience would be too broad to
understand this, but the result is that he comes across as cardboard,
and deals with subjects that anyone who has even paid cursory attention
to his life will know about, as this stuff has already been covered in
so many ways. So again there's not a lot of new stuff in here. The
gimmicks may have been put in as a way to wallpaper the basic lack of
substance. I don't know.
However, the single best chapter, deals with the boy who died in his
pool. Just because it's a sad and powerful tale. TL may be covering his
ass at some points as he tells it, but this chapter came off as honest.
I'd say, now that I think of it, a lot of the book was honest, it's just
basically honest at a superficial level. There's introspection, yes, but
it only goes so far. Maybe this is because the publishers are trying to
appeal to a wide commercial audience, so they don't want to get too
bogged down in specifics. Also maybe because TL wasn't interested, or
wasn't capable, of diving down too deep.
There is however a semi-decent story about tying up and paddling a porn
chick, and a chick who squirts on a soundboard. And the stuff on TL's
fave bands is reasonably interesting (he lists Sigur Ros, Zeppelin, VH,
Cheap Trick, Snow Patrol, Funk music, and electronica, as particular
joys, and gives like half a page each on why). Sludge fans will
particularly enjoy his defense of the song Brandon (pg 129).
He doesn't come off as a bad guy. Far from it. However, I'd say The Dirt
was a much better book. The Jenna Jameson book too. Jameson may come off
as an egomaniac and totally self-obsessed, but she's smart, and shrewd,
and was more than happy to cover any and every facet of her life. Also,
admittedly, her co-author, Neil Strauss (who wrote the Dirt) did about a
thousand times better job in guiding her through the project, and
drawing all those good stories and thoughts out of her.

Former MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil
has signed to star in MTV's "The Remaking of Vince
Neil", according to Billboard.com. The show, which
will premiere on a date to be announced, will document Neil's
attempt at a career comeback with the help of makeover specialists.
Last year, Neil was part of the first-season ensemble cast of
the WB's "The Surreal Life", which chronicled
the activities of various celebrities living together in the same
house.
As previously reported, former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy
Lee has inked a deal with NBC for a reality series centered
on his enrollment in college. The still-untitled show is currently in
development and does not yet have a premiere date. It will follow Lee
as he experiences college life at a university to be announced.

TORONTO, Aug. 13 /CNW/ - Motley
Crue frontman Vince Neil sat down exclusively with MuchMoreMusic's Bill
Welychka in Buffalo, NY yesterday and cleared up recent rumours of a
possible reunion/ farewell tour.
"Two weeks ago in L.A., Tommy (Lee), Nikki (Sixx), myself and Mick
(Mars) by phone sat in a room together with all the attorneys to see if
we even wanted to do this," said Neil. "The fans are asking
for it and I think it's time. It's a good thing and a good time to put a
'period' on the Motley Crue story. After, we'll call it quits and go
back to doing what we've been doing
for the past few years. It'll be closure for me - and this won't go on
to be 7 or 8 'farewell tours' like KISS or CHER... Everyone is on board
and 95% committed. It's definitely time."
With sales upwards of the 40 million mark, the band battled
well-documented years of drug abuse and mounting legal troubles. Neil
contends, however, that this is a wiser and healthier Motley Crue. The
last time the four original members toured together was 1999, before
personality differences forced the band off the road. Motley Crue toured
again
in 2000 without Tommy Lee. The upcoming tour is slated to last close to
2 years, and will most likely commence in February 2005.

From melodicrock.com -
The Australian Kiss tour, which was previously announced by Aussie
promoter Andrew McManus Presents for April, is now set to take place in
May. Final details are still being negotiated, including a new support
act now that fans Down Under have made it clear they do not appreciate
Limp Bizkit to appear on the same stage as Kiss. They're currently
looking in at acts that are much more suitable for a KISS show.
For the US Summer tour that Kiss is planning to kick off in June, Nikki
Sixx's new band Brides Of Destruction (also on Sanctuary Records, like
Kiss's releases on their Kiss Records label) is being considered as an
opening act. For more news check out www.kisskollector.com. Poison are
another contender. Vocalist Bret Michaels was on US radio last week
saying that this has not been finalized, but the two sides are talking.
Apparently he sounded very excited at the prospect, since Poison are
such big Kiss fans.
